Kellie Pickler became well-known as a contestant on "American Idol," and the country singer continues to sing to big crowds. Lately she's been bringing smiles to American troops by performing in a USO tour, and she's happy to be a part of it.
Kellie Tweeted:
Back on US soil! Took a little piece of home to our service men & women in Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, & Germany!! #GodBlessAmerica

Kellie's been Tweeting a lot about the USO tour lately, and responding to Tweets from service men and women and their families. She's been a real hit for the men and women in uniform, and she even got a special thank-you for her time:
Honored to receive this...courtesy of General Martin E. Dempsey Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. #USO say.ly/upq4LJt

This isn't the first instance where's Kellie's gone out of her way to help others. People were totally choked up and touched when they heard she shaved her head in support of her BFF who was diagnosed with cancer.
You don't have to be a country sensation or an "American Idol" star if you want to show your appreciation to our soldiers. There are things you can do like write letters to the troops or give them free minutes so they can call their family members. Since the holiday time might be making them especially homesick, this could be an extra special time of the year to do something. And we salute you, Ms. Pickler, for your good work!
