From a record number of female senators voted in, to the first International Day of the Girl, to Malala Yousafzai's brave activism for girls' education, 2012 is a year about strong women. On Monday night, Glamour celebrated ladies who make a  big diff with the Women of the Year Awards, and Mary J. Blige and Solange Knowles were attendees.

It was a great night to be a part of. Some powerful female celebs were honored as Women of the Year, including our-often-talked-about Selena Gomez and "Girls" creator Lena Dunham. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who was the second woman to join the highest court in the country, was another Girl Power honoree.

Some other powerful women you might not have heard about were also honored, like activist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who is working against acid attacks on women. Her documentary on the subject, "Saving Face," won an Academy Award. Another Woman of the Year winner is Erin Merryn, who is a survivor of sexual abuse, and who is the namesake for Erin's Law, which is all about educating kids on sexual abuse to keep them safe.

Mary and Solange were guests and not official Women of the Year, but surely it was an honor just to be part of the event and get to mingle with all these world-changing women. This was a night to celebrate super women, and maybe someday one of our awesome activist readers will be honored at this night!
