Let's see what is new in a galaxy far away.

Last week, we reported that Michael Arndt had supposedly been brought on to outline the three movies of the trilogy. Then on Friday night, StarWars.com confirmed that the "Toy Story 3" writer would pen the screenplay for "Episode VII."

While we eagerly await official word on who will direct the "Episode VII," every media outlet with access to pretty much any director has put the question to them, whether they're interested or not. This has resulted in the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg giving outright "no"s and a few interesting "we'll see"s.

The latest "no" came from J.J. "Star Trek" Abrams (via Hollywood Life), who had this to say:

"Look, Star Wars is one of my favorite movies of all time. I frankly feel that -- I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series. I was never a big Star Trek fan growing up, so for me, working on Star Trek didn't have any of that, you know, almost fatal sacrilege, and so, I am looking forward more [than] anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!"

Then Jon Favreau, who some see as a possible candidate (including our own Josh Wigler), spoke about the exciting nature of the project. "I think there is a lot of question marks of how they are going to do it, and who they are going to do it with, and what the story is going to be about; but to say that I am not excited about it is definitely an understatement," he said. "We'll see."
