From the very beginning, Vin Diesel has said that "Riddick," the upcoming sequel to 2004's "The Chronicles of Riddick," would have an R rating, like 2000's "Pitch Black," the character's original outing. "Though Hollywood likes their PG Ratings, the next chapter in the 'COR' series was always envisioned as an R rating, like 'Pitch Black,'" Diesel said on his Facebook page in 2009.

Getting that rating has meant sacrifice, particularly in Diesel's wallet, as the actor also admitted via Facebook that he had to "work for scale" on "Riddick" to keep the budget down. Looks like it's been worth it, as Diesel and writer-director David Twohy have finally been granted their wish.

Coming Soon reports that the MPAA has officially given "Riddick" an R for "strong violence, language and some sexual content/nudity." While none of the reasons are exactly a surprise, the third seems a bit curious, considering the sequel's plot. In "Riddick," Diesel will find himself left for dead on a sun-scorched planet filled with nasty creatures and the only help that's one the way is in the form of bounty hunters who are looking to take Riddick's head. And yet, somewhere in there, it would seem that Riddick finds time for love.

In March of 2011, Twohy said that "Riddick" would "have a seduction," which means that either Katee Sackhoff, who plays the mercenary Dahl, or Keri Hilson, who is playing an unknown role in the movie, will get a chance to seduce Diesel. Either that, or things get real personal between Riddick and Vaako (Karl Urban).

Now that "Riddick" has a rating, perhaps a release date, or a teaser trailer, will be next.

"Riddick" should open sometime next year.
