It's been more than four months since we've seen anything new from Disney's upcoming animated film "Monsters University"—aside from the viral campaign—but now we're finally meeting some new characters.
Pixar Planet has posted a handful of new CG art renderings from "Monsters University" that Disney has sent out, and speculates that a new "Monsters University" trailer will debut before "Wreck-It Ralph" on Friday. We picked our favorite of the new images above, but you can see all five of them here.
In addition to the many renderings of main characters Mike and Sully, we are also introduced to some new characters from the movie. There's Don, whose balding head and Movember-worthy mustache make us think he's a university professor; Squishy, who is likely another college student; Squishy's mom; Art and conjoined twins named Terry and Terri.
Four "Monsters University" teaser trailers were released back in June and promised that plenty of Pixar-grade hilarity will be heading our way next summer. It's clear from those short looks at the upcoming movie that it takes a little while for Sulley and Mike to become the best friends we met in "Monsters, Inc."
"Monsters University" takes place before the events of "Monsters, Inc." and follows younger versions of our two favorite monsters, Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan, as they start college at the University of Fear. As part of the movie's marketing campaign, Disney has launched a website for the University of Fear, and it (unsurprisingly) is pretty adorable. "Monsters University" is due in theaters on June 21, 2013.
