Whoever wins the election, expect some big changes in the way the government taxes us in the next four years. The problem is the budget deficit: it's huge, and it's next to impossible to fix the problem without getting our hands dirty in the tax code. Which means that this election could impact the size of your wallet.

The candidates say such different things about the topic that it's hard to tell what the truth is. Are taxes high in the U.S., or are they low? Have taxes been increasing lately, or have they been decreasing? Are big businesses paying too many taxes or too little? Are the rich paying their fair share? Are the poor?
