Having honed her awards show style at the Grammys (where she collected a few statues in 2009), Estelle will be gracing the stage at the 2012 Emery Awards after party on Monday night. And just what are the Emery's all about? Glad you asked.

The Emery Awards are the Hetrick-Martin Institute's way to honor people and business standing for the protection of at-risk youth. Since 1988, the Hetrick-Martin Institute has been offering a safe environment and supportive resources for NYC's young LGBTQ community -- many of whom are at risk for discrimination and harassment in their homes and communities. The founders were moved to take action back in 1979, after hearing about the beating of a gay 15-year-old boy. As their vision for the center took shape, the reality of LGBTQ-targeted bullying became more and more clear.

Some 30 years later, we know the problem isn't not solved. We know more than ever. Thanks to user-generated campaigns and pop star pushes, we're all well aware of the devastating toll that bullying can take. We also know that there's more pressure than ever to tip the scales toward human kindness. We have Spirit Day, Love Is Louder, It Gets Better and, of course, the must-see film "Bully" -- an honored work at this year's Emery Awards. Even if you can't swing a ticket to the after party, you can most definitely add to the social change momentum. Estelle, sing on for these American boys and girls:
