There will be even more than meets the eye than usual when the next "Transformers" film rolls out, according to the latest rumor that a new cast of Autobots and Decepticons will dominate the playing field for the Hasbro and Paramount franchise's fourth outing.
New robots are always a given from "Transformers" film to "Transformers" film, and lord knows there's an almost uncountable number of old robots that director Michael Bay could choose from. Should the report hold weight and a fresh assortment of 'bots take center stage two summers from now, here's our wish list of classic "Transformers" characters to make the cut.
The Dinobots
It's severely uncool that Grimlock and his pals aren't in the "Transformers" movies already. These simple-minded warriors are long overdue for a big-screen makeover, if only because there aren't nearly enough robot T-Rexes in theaters these days.
Astrotrain
A triple-changer who has already appeared in IDW's "Transformers" movie tie-in comics, Astrotrain has the distinct pleasure of being able to transform into both a train and a space shuttle. A robot with multiple disguises! The Decepticons could use such a talented ally after getting their 'botts kicked at the end of "Dark of the Moon," and deep-cut fans would happily go along for the ride as well.
Ultra Magnus
When Optimus Prime died in "Transformers: The Movie," he named Magnus as his successor. That turned out to be way too much pressure to put on a robot who deemed himself "just a soldier," but that doesn't mean Magnus isn't badass enough to take Decepticons down with his own hands. Keep the Matrix of Leadership away from him, but put a rifle in his hands and he'll light up the big-screen with ease.
Unicron
Really, bit of a no-brainer, isn't it? He's the most iconic "Transformers" villain this side of Megatron and Starscream, as well he should be, seeing as he lives on a steady diet of planet-eating and monologuing. The big problem lies in the casting. Orson Welles lent his talents to Unicron in "Transformers: The Movie," setting the bar very high for any voice actors to follow.
Kup
He's Mike Ehrmantraut as a Transformer. Need I say more?
