It turns out that the idea of calling the planned "Independence Day" sequels "ID4-Ever: Part I" and "Part II" had the emphasis on the "4-Ever." In a new batch of interviews, director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin are apparently sticking with the titles Emmerich pitched to MTV News three years ago.

In an interview with German website Film Starts (via /Film), Emmerich said that the two sequels will be a package and will keep the LOL-worthy titles already announced. Didn't he hear that colons are on the way out?

Though he said that the "ID4-Ever" films are still a long way off, Emmerich was also able to give an update on the chances of the flicks being shown in 3D. "Independence Day" is already being post-converted to the format for a re-release on July 3, 2013, and Emmerich said the two sequels will likely get the same treatment. It turns out that Emmerich is not especially sold on 3D, but is expecting the studio behind the project to have him shoot in 2D and then convert the flick to three dimensions.

Meanwhile, Devlin recently sat down with Total Film and opened up about the forthcoming sequels. According to him, "ID4-Ever: Part 1" and "Part 2" will try to create the same tone as the original film.

"Roland and I sat down and watched the original. It's a different experience on television!" Devlin said. "The thing that really hit me about the movie is how much love there is in it: between the characters; that the filmmakers had making it; that the cast had for each other. As we're approaching a sequel we're focusing on that aspect of it. Because I think that was really the key as to why it worked for everyone. It was lovable."
