Project Peanut Butter, The Sparkle Effect and the University of Iowa Dance Marathon just rounded out a roster of 16 change-makers worthy of a sought-after title in the philanthropic world: classy.
Before going public with the inspring list of regional winners, though, the 4th Annual Classy Awards crew played a trick on its honorees. Thinking they were video-chatting their way into yet another round of interviews, the candidates cautiously spelled out their mission statements, articulated their goals and impact. Classy. Then they were told that pssssssssych!, they'd already qualified for that free trip to Cali and an honor at the big show next month. Screams, tears and flip-outs followed. Also classy, if you ask us. Check out the video below:
The award show, after all, is about true class, not boloney posturing. It is about reflections of high standards and sophisticated ideals. What's more classy, then, than celebrating grassroots social change? Screaming and giggling and hair-clutching: that's what.
Among the top dogs at this year's awards will be well-known institutions like The Trevor Project and FEED, as well as philanthropic-stars-we-oughta-know-too like Free Wheelchair Mission and Operation BBQ Relief, Inc. Read about the regional winners, their projects, their projects' impact, and the ways you can get involved. Categories include Animal Advocacy and Services, Environmental Protection and Educational Advancement, among others. There are also awards for exceptional volunteers and extra-ambitious college students. Wanna see which charity had the most creative fundraising idea this year? Classy's got that covered, too.
If you're in the San Diego area, you can buy a ticket to the big event, September 22. Otherwise, stay tuned here to get highlights — and info on applying for next year's classy affair.
