Bimonthly, we'll take an artist on the rise on the MTV Music Meter and, to help you discover them a little more, detail some of their philanthropic tendencies -- from Mika to Ellie Goulding. This week: Ed Sheeran!

Brit crooner Ed Sheeran is many things, but most of all, he is a ginger. Aside from climbing the MTV Music Meter and singing the soundtrack to my Sunday morning cuddle sesh, here are a few reasons Ed is the sweetest hipster redhead in the game:

+ He sells his prized possessions for charity

I'm gonna auction off all the lego I've ever made and give the proceeds to charity. Anyone wanna buy some Lego?

In March, Ed took to Twitter to announce that he'd be auctioning all of his personal Lego collection off for charity. "It's all stuff I've made backstage at gigs, or, the day my Album went #1, I made the Millennium Falcon, Hogwarts Castle," he said. Speaking of Hogwarts…

+ He starred in "Harry Potter."

+He raised over £40,000 ($62,000) for homeless women

Ed recently held a concert in Bristol from which proceeds went to One25 -- an organization devoted to helping vulnerable and homeless women. Ed actually wrote his song "The A Team" after a gig at a homeless shelter. Give it a listen above.
