With the 2012 London Olympics going on we've all got sports on our minds -- and Miley Cyrus has a very specific athlete in her thoughts. But instead of thinking about an Olympian, she wants to help an athlete who's been badly wounded.
First Miley sent out a general Tweet to let people know what's up:
help Beau Vernon A young Aussie Football star who suffered a spinal injury during football thats left him without movement in his arms &legs

Later on she got a little more detailed and included a pic about Beau's fund:
The Beau Vernon fund has been set up to help support Beau and the challenges that lay ahead for him and his family. twitter.com/MileyCyrus/sta…

Beau Vernon was injured earlier this summer and it's really serious. The 23-year-old injured his spine and had to be hospitalized. He has to go through rehabilitation, which can be both difficult and expensive. That's where Miley got involved, because she's hoping people can open their hearts and wallets to help give Beau a second chance.
If you're a little confused about Miley's second Tweet, here's the lowdown: Westpac is a bank in Australia, and that's where they're taking the donations. It kinda puts any non-Aussies at a loss with how to help (unless something gets changed with the donation process and more information on that comes out). But Miley's got a lot of Twitter followers, and surely a lot of fans in Australia, so her Tweet still ought to do a lot of good in the long run. Plus it doesn't hurt that her fiancé Gale Hawthorne Liam Hemsworth is from down under.
Right now we've got a lot of sports on the news, and kudos to Miley for catching this story and doing what she can to help. And our fingers are crossed for Beau!
