After still reeling from the shooting at the Aurora theater in Colorado, more awful news happened when a gunman began shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. Now in this time of mourning, sadness and disbelief, people want to know what they can do to help, so we've put together a list.
+ Donate to the Temple. If you have money to spare, you can always make donations to the families of the victims. You can make your checks out to Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, Tri City National Bank, 3378 South 27th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53215.
+ Contribute to the fund. Another place to donate is at We Are Sikhs, which has a memorial fund going on. The website explains: "The nation, and in particular the Sikh community of Wisconsin, is still recovering from the recent tragic shooting at the Oak Creek Sikh Temple. In an effort to direct the many offers of support towards something concrete, we launched this website to help the families of the less fortunate victims."
+ Follow on Twitter. If money is tight but you want to show your support, there's always Twitter. We recommend Sikhs for Justice (@SikhsForJustice) as a good org to follow.
+ Tweet your support. You can also use Twitter to let the victims, their family and loved ones know they're in your thoughts. Hashtags like #templeshooting and #SikhTemple are filling up Twitter as people express their condolences.
+ Spread tolerance. We don't know the motive for the shooting, but some people are saying now is the time for more religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue. You can learn more about Sikhism and what it entails to be part of a movement for more understanding and tolerance.
