MTV Movies Blog | Just another WordPress site | | 'Pacific Rim' Viral Reveals Two Jaeger Blueprints Nov 29th 2012, 18:30 The viral campaign for "Pacific Rim" is officially underway, and today it's debuted two new blueprints for the giant robotic Jaegers. These reveal the designs for Jaegers in Russia and Japan, proving that this movie is going to be a worldwide war against the giant Kaiju monsters. It's interesting and exciting that the two blueprints show very different versions of the Jaegers. It seems as though we shouldn't expect the human-controlled robots to have a uniform design, which is something that director Guillermo del Toro must be geeking out over. That man never seems to be happier than when he's designing some epic creature for us to ooh and ahh over. This viral campaign will likely continue to reveal exciting new tidbits about the upcoming "Pacific Rim." The movie isn't coming out until July 12, but thus far we know little to nothing about the film. It stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kinkuchi, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman and Charlie Day and focuses on the human/Jaeger war against the Kaiju, but beyond that we're at a loss. A "Pacific Rim" trailer is expected to arrive before "The Hobbit," but yesterday the viral campaign revealed a countdown that is slated to expire on December 12. Our guess is that the trailer will appear online two days before it comes out in theaters. The official plot synopsis for "Pacific Rim" reveals, "When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) -- who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse." Are you looking forward to "Pacific Rim"? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

MTV Act Blog | Just another WordPress site | | Fight Slavery With The Slavery Footprint Campus Challenge Nov 29th 2012, 17:25 Photo: (againstourwill.org) Nothing you own comes from slave labor, right? Actually, you might be surprised. But the good news is you can get yourself educated on this, help make a change, and even win a shout-out on mtvU with the Slavery Footprint Campus Challenge. The mtvU campaign Against Our Will, which fights modern-day slavery, has joined forces with Slavery Footprint to get some serious education and anti-trafficking movement going on college campuses this year. Why is this an issue? According to Against Our Will, there are anywhere between 12 to 27 million people estimated to be enslaved. And it's happening in our backyard too -- from nail salons to restaurants. Wanna help fight slavery? Take the survey at Slavery Footprint. It'll take maybe five, ten minutes to complete, and afterward it estimates how many slaves work for you. After you learn the number, you can get involved. You'll click on "Groups" and from there you can find your college and see what ways you can take action. Maybe you can get a fundraiser going at your school, or ask the school paper to report on it. If you have an Android or an iPhone, you can also download the Made in a Free World app, which gives you more quick and easy ways to fight slavery. And if you've ever wanted a shoutout on air, this is your chance. At the end of the school year, the top school and students will get to hear their names right on mtvU! The first step to fighting slavery is to realize it still exists. After that, it's time to understand it and fight it. College campuses across the country are showing that they've got the stuff to make slavery a thing of the past.

MTV Movies Blog | Just another WordPress site | | George Clooney Teams With 'Bourne' Director, 'Argo' Writer For Crime Drama Nov 29th 2012, 16:51 Tempting as it is, try to resist the urge to tell the following news to "Argo" eff itself: "Bourne Supremacy" and "Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass is teaming up with the writer of Ben Affleck's hostage drama and none other than George Clooney for a crime drama all their own. Variety has the news that Greengrass, Clooney and "Argo" writer Chris Terrio are joining forces for an untitled crime drama. Details on the title and plot are completely under wraps; for now, all that's known is the film is "set in the world of New York criminal syndicates." Honestly, that's more than enough information for the time being, as the talent alone is enough to demand attention: Greengrass behind the lens, Clooney producing (alongside his Smoke House producing partner Grant Heslov) and starring, Terrio on the script. With those ingredients in place, what more do you need to know right now? Stick with Movies Blog in the coming weeks as more details emerge.
