Andrew Jenks likes to use the power of documentary to spread awareness on issues, and news came earlier this year that he was working on a documentary about Ryan Ferguson. Ryan had been found guilty of murder, but many people felt that an innocent man was in prison.

Now that Ryan has had his murder conviction overturned, supporter Jenks Tweeted:

If you follow Jenks on Twitter, you'll see he's been keeping people updated with what's going on with Ryan. The MTV documentarian had been Tweeting things like #FreeRyanFerguson for some time, and he's also encouraged other people to get involved and help with the case.

Basically, Ryan was arrested in 2004, but people who said he committed the crime later came forward to admit they had lied about this. Ryan's DNA was also not at the crime scene, and the case built against him fell apart. Finally, the 29-year-old was released from prison and given his life back.

So while Ryan has more to celebrate than Jenks, you can see how thrilled Jenks is to see the young man out from behind bars. We'll be anxiously waiting to see what Jenks makes for this documentary, because in addition to showing what happened to Ryan Ferguson, it might open up new discussion to the justice system, prisons, wrongful convictions.

Jenks also shows the importance of getting behind causes you care about. As this case shows, it is possible to make change!
