Everyone wants to hear Pharrell sing, but didja know you can also hear him sing for a good cause? He's using his voice to help students go to college.
Pharrell Tweeted:
Looking forward to performing in LA on Wednesday night for @FulfillmentFund, a nonprofit that helps #LA kids get to college.
— Pharrell Williams (@Pharrell) October 21, 2013
The STARS 2013 Benefit Gala will be taking place this Wednesday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and that's where Pharrell will be performing. Besides listening to Pharrell's voice, people will be honored there and money will be raised for Fulfillment Fund.
Fulfillment Fund wants to make college accessible to people who might not be able to go otherwise, because of financial reasons or because they weren't able to attend a school that gave them the kind of education they'd need. The org does this through things like mentoring, classroom instruction and one-on-one counseling. In fact, 81% of Fulfillment Fund students became the first in their fam to attend college. As you know from Malala and others, being well-educated is one of the main things that can help break a person from the cycle of poverty.
If you like what you're hearing and live in the L.A. area, you might want to check out Fulfillment Fund. They might be able to help you, or you might be able to help them as a mentor. If you're not in the area but could still use some help with school, you can check out Get Schooled for tips and resources. There also might be an org similar to Fulfillment Fund or Get Schooled in your community. And if there is . . . see if you can get Pharrell to sing there!
