On Saturday, the 23rd Annual Environmental Media Association (EMA) Awards took place in SoCal, and not only did Hayden Panettiere attend — she also won the Futures Award!
Hayden shared this pic of the outfit she wore there:

The Awards show (which is not to be confused with MTV's EMA, or European Music Awards) is all about honoring the people in the entertainment world — like actors, singers, producers, etc. — who make a point of being environmentally friendly and spreading awareness about it. Hayden has a special place in her heart for helping the ocean and ocean life, as seen with her close involvement with the Whaleman Foundation.
She spoke about the Whaleman Foundation during her acceptance speech, talking about how it showed her one person can make a difference. "And that's why we have to do whatever we can to spread the word about the essential issues of our time," she said. She said that the media, with a few exceptions (ahem) tended not to concentrate on these important issues, instead going into detail about things like the height difference between her and her new fiancé.
If Hayden's getting you pumped to prove that one person can make a diff, you might want to check out the Whaleman Foundation that's so close to her heart. If the ocean's your thing, there's also Oceana. Hayden's right that we need to tackle environmental issues in the here and now, because, as she put it, "Twerking is not going to save the environment."
