Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are engaged! The rapper popped the question to the reality star at AT&T park in San Francisco, hired a 50-piece orchestra to play Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful," AND had the words "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!" written on a jumbotron. You know, just a low-key, intimate proposal.
While Kanye's jumbotron proposal was definitely off the charts, there are a few other things we woulda loved to see the superstar write in bright ,"Flashing Lights:"
+ Same-Sex Marriage is Legal in 14 states!
Kanye West doesn't like being told what to do, and neither do same-sex couples who can't legally marry in their home states. New Jersey recently became the 14th state to legalize same-sex marriage, proving that — slowly but surely — America's comin' 'round.
+ Nepal's Tiger Population is Up!
Much like Nepal's tiger population is on the rise, Kanye's likability is up now that he's a baby daddy and a future husband. In July 2013, the government of Nepal announced that Nepal's tiger population had increased by 63% since the last survey in 2009. There are as few as 3,2000 tigers left in the world, which is why Kanye's future sister-in-law, Khloe Kardashian, recently joined forces with the World Wildlife Fund to save them. Kanye should totes get on her good side by supporting the furry cause too.
+ The World Series Starts Tomorrow
The Major League Baseball World Series starts tomorrow. In 2011, eight MLB teams made history by becoming the first to come out in support of LGBTQ youth and the It Gets Better campaign. The teams involved recorded a video message to their LGBTQ fans, and some players even took the time to send words of encouragement to their Spanish and Japanese-speaking fans.
+ 83% of Millennials Donated to Charity Last Year
In spite of economic tough times, 83% of millennials donated to charity in 2012. The One Percent Foundation encourages everyone 20-30 years old to donate one percent of their annual incomes to charity every year. If Kim and Kanye were to combine their cash and do they same, they'd have $300,000 to give. (According to Forbes, Kanye's made $20,000,000 so far this year, while Kim's brought in a sizable $10,000,000.)
+ HS Graduation Rates Are High!
National high school graduation rates are at a four-decade high! Kanye used to hate on education — his debut album was named The College Dropout, after all — but the rebellious rapper recently came out in support of Getting Schooled, and even launched a program to help young music students in Chicago.
