Ellen has gone and done it again! Meet 22-year-old Sarah Hoidahl, a waitress at Ruby Tuesday in Concord, NH, whose good deed of the day landed her on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." As Sarah was working, she decided to pick up the tab of two National Guard soldiers, who were furloughed due to the government shutdown.
Sarah felt for the soldiers, as a single mom to 15-month old Ashton, she knew what it was like to have to stress about money. "They're not getting paid. That just got me thinking. Geez..that's really difficult. I'm a waitress, single mother. I know how hard that is. I just decided to do some good today," Sarah told Ellen.
Her lack of funds that didn't stop her from doing such a wonderful deed, passing on the love regardless of the money noise she also felt in her personal life. The day she paid for the meal she only made $8. "Which isn't even enough to cover my gas," joked Sarah.
DEF a lesson we all should embrace. Little did Sarah know, the sweet note she wrote the two soldiers went viral catching the attention of Ellen herself!
As Sarah sat in the famous guest chair, Ellen asked her to explain to the audience about what had happened. Then Ellen began to pay Sarah back.
First, Ellen paid the $27.75 bill back to Sarah, followed by a free TV (so she can watch Ellen's show) as Sarah's TV is broken, and then... Ellen wrote Sarah a check for $10,000! Watch the touching video below. It's a great reminder of random acts of kindness. BRB, we're about to give some cranky New Yorker a smile now.
+ Watch an inspiring waitress gets an amazing surprise.
