Liam Hemsworth has joined Twitter! What's even more awesome is the fact that nearly all of his Tweets so far have a pro-social bent, and yesterday the Aussie actor Tweeted about the importance of protecting the Great Barrier Reef.
Liam Tweeted:

Australia's Great Barrier Reef is the biggest coral reef system on the planet and boasts more than 1,500 types of fish and more than 400 kinds of hard coral. It's one of the world's most famous and beloved natural treasures, but its future is threatened. As Liam's World Wildlife Fund link explains, the governments of Australia and Queensland have "fast-tracked mega ports, permitted shipping superhighways, and allowed the dredging and dumping of millions of tons of sand and rock into the reef's waters."
But there is some hopeful news. The World Heritage Committee is meeting up this week, and Liam has shared a petition to them that you can sign. The petition calls for the protection of the Great Barrier Reef, and it only takes a minute to fill out. If you recall Sophia Bush's recent Sweet Tweet, you'll know that the ocean is facing a lot of serious issues, and it's up to us to show we want better protection for our seas. The fact that Liam's Australian might make the Great Barrier Reef a little more personal for him, but hurting any part of the planet hurts us all.
And when you're done signing the petition, it might be time to start following Liam on Twitter. This boy's seriously using his Tweets to make the world a better place!
