Whether you like it or not, it looks like a sequel to "Prometheus" is coming our way. At least, that's what a new article from Variety suggests.

Word of Fox and the producers' intention to quickly follow-up the $400 worldwide hit spread just months after the original film debuted, with THR naming 2014 or 2015 as potential targets.

Even though those date now seem unrealistic considering how long it takes a project like "Prometheus" to get going, there is progress. Variety is reporting that Jack Palgen, who wrote "Dark Knight" cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut, "Transcendence," which stars Johnny Depp, has been hired to write the script.

A writer announcement has been expected for some time, ever since Damon Lindelof announced that he would not be returning to write the screenplay for the sequel. That announcement resulted in a gossipy story about how producers were pissed because Lindelof wrote them into a corner. Both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are expected to return as the ever-curious Elizabeth Shaw and the recently decapitated David-8. The two reportedly had sequel agreements in their original contracts, so we can expect further adventures of the lady scientist and her sometimes evil robot head. That's a winning combination!
