After many roadblocks, things are finally going right for Lloyd and Harry. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are confirmed to reunite for the long-awaited Dumb and Dumber sequel, "Dumber and Dumber To." Just over one week after New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. dropped the comedy, Universal Pictures and Red Granite Pictures have come aboard to revive the project.
Peter and Bobby Farrelly will return to direct the sequel. The sibling duo wrote on Twitter:

About a year ago, Carrey's reps confirmed with us that he left the then proposed sequel due to a conflict with the studios, New Line and Warner Bros. MTV News spoke with Carrey's co-star from the original, Jeff Daniels, later that day and he confirmed, "No, nobody's doing it without Jim."
"Entertainment Tonight" previously reported that "According to sources, Carrey grew increasingly frustrated by New Line and Warner Bros., who he felt showed a lack of enthusiasm regarding the project."
Warner had long been back-and-forth about the film, but Carrey still had high hopes for the project, along with Daniels and the Farrelly brothers.
'Dumb and Dumber' was a huge hit, grossing more than $240 million worldwide. In 2003, New Line Cinema produced a low-budget prequel film called 'Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd,' which featured different actors as Lloyd and Harry and bombed at the box office.
The sequel film is expected to focus on another legendary road trip. Sources say the film will likely film this summer for release next year, which would coincide with the 20th anniversary release of the original. The production urgency is due to scheduling: Daniels needs to do it before returning to HBO's The Newsroom as Aaron Sorkin and Carrey has Relativity to film.
Red Granite is stepping up to finance the $35 million budget film and sell foreign territories.
