Johhny Depp may be able to do pretty much everything in his phenomenal range of movie roles, but there's one thing he doesn't do in real life: drink. The 50-year-old "Lone Ranger" actor recently told Rolling Stone that he hasn't had a drop of alcohol in over a year and a half!
"I don't have the physical need for the drug alcohol," he told the mag. "No, it's more my medication, my self-medication over the years just to calm the circus." Johnny's no alcoholic, but he stopped drinking when he realized it wasn't doing him any good. According to MTV's Half Of Us, over 600,000 students between the ages of 16 and 24 are unintentionally injured under the influence of alcohol every year. While drinking can be way fun, and Yeezus knows it makes our dance moves better, it's important to drink responsibly so that our tipsy twerking doesn't lead to injury or something much worse.
One of the best way to keep ourselves in check is to drink slowly. If drinking were meant to be an Olympic sport, it would be! Pace yourself and don't feel pressured to drink more or faster because people around you are. If your friends try to make you drink more than you can handle, let 'em know that peer pressure is so 2012. If you're unsure of how much alcohol you can handle or how much booze is really in that vodka soda, there are tons of handy apps and drink calculators you can use to get a rough estimate.
