May 31 is the World Health Organization's World No Tobacco Day, which means it's the perfect time to talk about the dangers of using tobacco products. Tobacco can be smoked, sucked, chewed or snuffed, but no matter what way you use it, one thing is for sure: it's hurting you and those around you.
Tobacco kills up to half of its users, which results in about 6 million people being killed by tobacco each year. Of those 6 million people, 600,000 of them died from exposure to second-hand smoke. That means your smoking habit isn't just hurting you, it's hurting the people you love and spend the most time with! By using tobacco, you're putting yourself and others at risk for cancer and other diseases.
If you're thinking about quitting tobacco products, know that you're not alone! Celebs like Jennifer Aniston, Gisele Bündchen, and Kate Hudson have all quit smoking in recent years to improve their health. Even President Obama, who has admitted struggling with nicotine addiction, was able to beat his habit. It's hard work, but like Bündchen said, "Nothing is worth your health." You don't want to be one of those 6 million people who die from using tobacco every year.
