Lady Gaga wants to start a body revolution. In the past she's talked about her struggles with eating disorders, but she recently received media backlash due to her weight gain so Gaga is talking seriously about body self-acceptance. She launched on Twitter a new campaign -- Body Revolution 2013. We have a cheat sheet on what Mother Monster's revolution is all about.
+ What is it?
After being criticized for her weight gain, Lady Gaga began to speak up more about body issues. She said that she doesn't feel bad at all about gaining weight, but that doesn't change the fact that society puts a lot of pressure on people to look a certain way. Gaga is getting Body Revolution 2013 going, especially at her Little Monsters site, but she also started a Twitter account, @ABodyRevolution. People are encouraged to share pictures of their bodies (all shapes and sizes) -- and learn to love them. Along with photos the captions are powerful too -- people are giving real talk about their struggles ranging from fighting cancer to physical disabilities.
+ When was it born (this way)?
Yesterday Gaga Tweeted the message "Body Revolution 2013" with a photo of herself in yellow lingerie. Next to the photo it said, "Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15." Out came more yellow lingerie photos with captions like "To Inspire Bravery" and "But today I join the BODY REVOLUTION." But you could say this was born years ago, when Gaga was just known as Stefani and feeling insecure about her body.
+ Who's supporting it?
Well, Gaga fans, for sure. Lady Gaga Tweeted that she's already gotten thousands of submissions to Body Revolution. Here are a few pics that really inspired us from LittleMonsters.com:
+ Can I join the revolution?
Hellz yah! You can share photos of yourself at LitteMons+ers, and you can also follow the Body Revolution on Twitter so you can get updates on the movement. This can also be a good time to get talking to people and assess your own feelings about your body. Let the revolution begin!
