Do you know that, in 2008, 6 million Americans didn't vote because they missed the registration deadline?! Today is National Voter Registration Day, and in celebration of this joyous occasion (it's right up there with Christmas for me…maybe even more exciting because it only comes once every 4 years!), we visited Pete Wentz at his awesomeeee L.A. pad to chat politics.
Here I am stumbling over my words (trying not to drool/wondering if he and I wear the same size jeans) as Pete talks about the importance of voting:

It's normal to feel like your vote doesn't count, but it does! We have the power, not only to decide who wins the election, but to determine what issues our President cares about. With the economy and job market as they are, there's lots to complain about, but as Pete said, "You can't complain if you don't participate." Registering to vote is easier than you may think. You can do it online -- you can even do it from your smartphone. It takes about as much time as it takes to microwave a Hot Pocket.
In celebration of National Voter Registration day, ditch the inspirational quotes or Taylor Swift lyrics directed at your ex ("We're never, ever, everrrr getting back together!") and use your Twitter or Facebook status to spread the word. Even if you've already registered to vote, let your friends/the random peeps you don't remember meeting but don't have the heart to unfriend know how important it is to register today and vote in November!
