Did you know that today is National Voter Registration Day? This is a new "holiday" (created this year!) and people dedicated to voting rights like Rosario Dawson want to get out there and tell us all about it.
Rosario, who is the chairwoman for Voto Latino, Tweeted:
"@lawrencehaseley: @rosariodawson @925nvrd You can also check out your voter registration status at canivote.org !" #925NVRD

A couple minutes later she sent out another Tweet:
#925NVRD @hominidj: @925nvrd And to register!More and more states and counties offer paperless, entirely online voter registration!

People are researching the candidates to know who to vote for, but sometimes they forget to get all the details on what they have to do before they can legally vote. How do they register? When do they need to register by? If they're a college student, do they vote by their college, or by their parents' residence?
These are all important questions, and in 2008 there were 6 million people who didn't get to vote because they didn't know the answers to these questions. That brings us to the birth of National Voter Registration Day.
Rosario's first site, Can I Vote?, can really help you narrow down on your Q's. You can look up what state you live in and go from there to figure out what needs to be done. You can also get more helpful information from Rosario's Voto Latino, which is empowering American Latinos to vote, and which is also taking part in National Voter Registration Day. So if you're at least 18 and still unsure about what you need to do in order to vote, today's the perf chance to get all the deets! You can also register to vote at MTV's Power of 12, so we've got ya covered, too!
