I know Friday night is looming and we're thinking about going out, celebrating the weekend and stuff. BUT if you want to get your mind blown and you're home for the night, tune in to "Inocente" at 10/9c on MTV. It's a touching documentary about Inocente Izucar, a 15-year-old undocumented Latina teen who's been homeless her entire life. Until her art changes things.

"Dear people of the world: just because I'm homeless doesn't mean I don't have a life. Because I do have a life. I'm a girl who likes to jump in puddles and likes flowers," says Inocente at the beginning of the film. And right then and there, you're immediately rooting for her.

The film takes you on a colorful, beautiful, tear-inducing and eye-opening journey into Inocente's world. The struggles she faces living as a homeless teen, one who never lived in a home for more than 3 months. The struggles she faces as a teen whose mother doesn't understand her, something that hits especially home for as me, as my Salvadorian mom and I had many growing pains when I was a teen. You get a glimpse of how art transforms Inocente and how she comes to life when she paints. To watch a trailer of the film, watch the clip below. Warning: Your mind will be blown!

We had a chance to interview the now 18-year-old Inocente about her film and asked her what she hopes people get out of watching the documentary and how she thinks it will help address homelessness. Check out her response below.

Not only does the film touch upon homelessness but also immigration (such a hot topic with the upcoming presidential election) as well as the importance of arts education (I wouldn't be writing this blog post right now if it wasn't for my arts education as a kid. Trust.).
