You gotta hand it to Stephen Colbert -- he makes the funniest Tweets. But that's no surprise, considering how hilar his show "The Colbert Report" is. Over the weekend Stephen shared a Tweet that was both funny . . . and very sweet.
Our favorite faux conservative wrote:
If you're anything like me, you have bones! Test your marrow at Be The Match! j.mp/MCbLEF Help kids like Jake! j.mp/LodxLE

Yeah, the conservative pundit character he plays on his show might act pretty clueless, but Stephen is one sharp guy. He's using his star power to bring attention to bone marrow transplants and to Jake, an adorable five-year-old who needs a transplant.
So how do you test your marrow to see if you match someone who needs a transplant? Invasive surgery? Long hospital stays? Excruciatingly embarrassing physical exams? Nope! You just get your mouth swabbed. Seriously, that's all it takes. And then your info will be filed away in case someone out there needs a transplant from you.
So what happens if there is someone out there who could specifically use your bone marrow? That sounds intimidating, right? Actually, it's pretty simple. A syringe will collect cells from your pelvic bone, so they're not going to be cutting you open and hacking away. You'll be given general anesthesia and when it's over (it might take an hour or two) you're fine to go home. You might get some bruising and stiffness, but all things considered, that's pretty minor.
You might even be a match specifically for Jake, who has Severe Aplastic Anemia. His bone marrow has stopped working. His parents are looking everywhere for a match and Stephen is acting as their Twitter matchmaker, spreading the word so the right person can be found. So Stephen doesn't just have bones -- it's clear from this Tweet that he also has a really big heart.<3
