Jennifer Lawrence is at the top of her game right now. She's the leading lady in second highest grossing movie of the year, is still hot off her 2011 Oscar nomination and is proving with every new film that she can't be pigeon-holed into one specific type of role.
A trailer for her upcoming project, David O Russell's "The Silver Linings Handbook," has just hit the web and it shows us yet another new facet of the 21-year-old actress. In the adaption of Matthew Quick's book, she plays a damaged young woman who befriends a newly released mental patient (Bradley Cooper). The two of them lean on one another to find the "silver linings" in their respective situations.
But Lawrence isn't the only one who looks like she's going to be giving a powerhouse performance. Cooper is very out of his element in this role, and that's how we like him. His character's rant over Ernest Hemingway was surprisingly touching, and it looks like he's going to bring some pathos to this movie in a way we haven't seen him do before.
Rounding out the cast are Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles and (surprise!) Chris Tucker. We haven't seen Tucker since 2007's "Rush Hour 3," and we're glad he made the transition back to the big screen. It looks like he's a bit more toned down since we last saw him. In all, "The Silver Linings Playbook" looks like it will show us new facets to all of its actors, and maybe even Russell himself.
