We are the tech generation, and it's about time we start rewarding artists for their masterful use of technology! From musical apps to viral videos, the O Music Awards are all about celebrating the best in digital music. The online show begins airing tonight at 7:30pm ET, and this year's "Best Protest Song" nominees are OMG AMAZING.

+ Dan Bull – "SOPA Cabana"

Dan Bull was not cool with the Stop Online Piracy Act -- which would have limited all of the awesome stuff we get to see on the Internet -- so he wrote a rap about it. While most of us use our social networks to do unproductive things like stalk the girl who wrote on the wall of the guy we used to know, Dan used his network for good! He asked his Twitter followers for help with lyrics, then had his Facebook friends take pictures of themselves displaying the lyrics for the video. So this is what happens when we use the internet for good?!

+ Robert Wilkinson – "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Drunk Queen Cover)

All Robert Wilkinson wanted to do was party! Instead, he was pulled over for drunk driving. But Robert had clearly just listened to "Black Flags" and wasn't gonna let his frustrations go unheard. Here's Robert. Drunk. Singing in the back of a cop car. Definitely one way to protest…

+ Forest Gibson – "The Day The LOLCATS Died"

Guys! So many species have already gone extinct, and it is our responsibility to save the LOLCATS! Forest Gibson wrote "The Day The LOLCATS Died" in protest of SOPA, which would censor Internet gems like this…because, you know, cute pictures of kittens are just so inappropriate.

+ Plies – "We Are Trayvon"

The Trayvon Martin shooting resulted in a lot of necessary debate on racial profiling in the justice system. Plies wrote this song in response to the tragedy, and 100% of proceeds go to the Trayvon Martin Foundation.

+ Atari Teenage Riot – "Black Flags"

This is totally the Occupy movement's theme song! "Black Flags" is an urgent call to action to those dissatisfied with corporate America and the rich gettin' richer. And when we say urgent, we mean it. According to Atari, you only have 2 seconds to get off your crush's Facebook page and into protest mode. If economic disparity is your cause of choice, check out The 99%, a movement that hopes to someday spread the concentration of wealth amongst the top 1% to allllll the people!
