Linkin Park's eagerly anticipated fifth studio album LIVING THINGS comes out today and I recently sat down with Mike and Chester in Los Angeles to chat about what fans can expect from their new music and upcoming Honda Civic Tour with Incubus.

"Our band has always been built on this philosophy…to mix all of the kinds of music that we love," said Mike, backstage at a House of Blues show for Linkin Park fan club members. The talented rockers love to challenge both themselves and their fans with new sounds and their new album is built on all of the different sounds the band has ever made. Which is 16 years in the making. Can you believe they've been together for that long?! Hey MTV colleagues, y'all need to give the band a special "My Super Sweet Sixteen" episode or something.

The album's leading single "Burn It Down" is steady burnin' the competition at #1 on the Billboard Rock Charts. It has all of the necessary elements to satisfy old school, head bangin' Linkin Park fans while also exploring a lot of that EDM, synthy, dance-til'-you-drop sounds that's everywhere these days. So whether you're looking to get tackled in a mosh pit (whyyyyyy?!) or fist pump with a hand full o' glow sticks, this album's for you!

Another trend the once pink-haired boys are up on? Going green! They've been green for years, but this year's Honda Civic Tour is especially emerald. They'll be traveling in biodiesel buses whenever possible and at most shows, all you've gotta do is throw your empty recyclable bottles into trash bins and maintenance will sort through and recycle 'em for you later. Mike knows that when fans are tipsy "rushing to catch a good show," recycling is often the furthest thing from their minds but YOU GUYS. It takes a few seconds and you'll be supporting the band too.

And the hot rockers know that going green is, like, way cooler than smashing guitars on stage. (Oh, how the times have changed.) Through their amazing non-profit  Music For Relief, they've been donating a dollar from every ticket sale to planting a tree since 2005. Over the years, they've planted over a million trees! How many rock stars -- or even environmentalists -- can say they've done that?!
