Though the late Nora Ephron became increasingly ill during her final months due to her battle with leukemia, the famed writer-director had two major projects lined up that would have likely pleased long-time fans of her work.

While she wasn't currently in production on either of the films when she passed, both were in the later stages of development. Both films, the untitled Peggy Lee biopic and "Lost in Austen," fell well within the realm of films that Ephron was loved for.

The project that was probably closest to actually heading into production was Ephron's proposed biopic of the famed jazz singer Peggy Lee. Ephron had agreed to write the script and direct the film back in 2010. Reese Witherspoon was attached to star as the singer known for her songs like "Fever" and writing a number of the songs for "Lady and the Tramp." The biopic may have been the next in production for Ephron, as she had signed the deal nearly two years ago and already had a star attached.

In October of last year, Variety reported that Ephron would director "Lost in Austen," a remake of the BBC mini-series from 2008. The series told the story of a modern-day New Yorker and fan of Jane Austen, who is magically transported to the world of "Pride & Prejudice." The series originally aired in the UK to critical praise.
