There are more than 43.7 million refugees and internally displaced people worldwide. Of those refugees, 20.5 million are children under the age of 18.
Today marks the United Nations World Refugee Day, a day that reminds us of the millions of children, women and men who are forced to flee their homes because of persecution or violence. There are sooo many EASY ways to help these refugees rebuild their futures. Just look to hot mama Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for some inspiration!
5 way you can support refugees:
+ Take a stand: with Angelina by adding your name to her PSA. Literally takes a hot sec.
+ Stay informed: by watching videos of refugees worldwide struggling to decide between staying home and risking their lives, or leaving and becoming a lost refugee. What would you do if you were in their shoes? Check out Hawa's ah-ma-zing story.
+ Facebook it: by changing your default so your bajillion Facebook friends can be in the know too!
+ Use the power of Twitter: by updating your Twitter photo and joining the Tweetathon today with @UNRefugeeAgency and #WorldRefugeeDay.
