President Obama recently announced a change in his immigration policy, which, in the world of politics, meant Mitt Romney had to talk about his views on immigration. Ya know how that back-and-forth works, right? Romney spoke about immigration to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, so take a look at what he had to say!

Romney said that he would make it easier for the family of legal immigrants to get in the country, but he tended to be vague in his details, which CNN reported did not get a very warm response from the crowd. He slammed the policy change President Obama made and declined to say how he would want to handle the immigrants granted new rights from Obama.

Romney has given different opinions about immigration in the past. Last December he said he would veto the DREAM Act if he were president. The DREAM Act is similar to President Obama's policy and would give young immigrants with good, moral character a way to become U.S. citizens. He's also been supportive of the anti-immigration law in Arizona. That law's been controversial because some people think it uses racial profiling. You see, the bill allows police to question and arrest people without a warrant if there is "reasonable suspicion" about their immigration status. Romney has also suggested he'd be willing to consider the DREAM Act if it were rewritten by Republicans.

In the usual case of political back-and-forth, it was now the Obama camp's turn to say something. Gabriela Domenzain, director of Hispanic press at Obama for America, said, "After seven days of refusing to say whether or not he'd repeal the Obama administration's immigration action that prevents young people who were brought here through no fault of their own as children from being deported, we should take [Romney] at his word that he will veto the DREAM Act as president."
