We've been rocking the vote ever since Madonna wrapped herself in a flag back in 1990, but music has evolved -- Material Girl to Madge to MDNA -- and that's why it's time to SPIN THE VOTE!
Dubstep just went DC, y'all! Not only has Rock The Vote signed on Kat Graham, Christine Aguilera, Maroon 5, Ke$ha and more to hype up their youth voter push this year -- they've also teamed up with Insomniac Events (the superbass team who put on insane electronica extravaganzas) to create Spin The Vote, the new youth voter registration drive that officially launched at the first-ever Electric Daisy Carnival in NYC last weekend!
It's all about harnessing the civic people power of the massive EDM (electronic dance music) scene -- about 100,000 peeps turned up to see Avicii, Calvin Harris & more at EDC NY and EDC Las Vegas expects that many EACH DAY. So I was super stoked to be on the ground rocking some flair, registering voters in tutus, tweeting patriotic pics and generally going H.A.M. for EDM. I even took some time to ask this colorful crowd a super serious political question: What should President Obama, Republican contender Mitt Romney and Libertarian wild card Ron Paul's DJ names be? Check out the hilar results.

Whether you're all about DJ Barack The Beat, DJ Mitt Nasty or DJ Ronnie P, we all can agree that it's time to fight for our right to dance, riiiiight?! Think I've just been watching too much "Footloose" lately? I'm for real! Tons of EDM shows are getting shut down because haters (uptight local governments, stuffy music critics, your parents) refuse to recognize that this is a legit community of passionate fans and not some obscure rave culture.
Just this month, iconic beatmaster Bassnectar had a big gig cancelled the day before because city officials decided to cite some rando noise ordinance -- you def don't see that ish happening to Taylor Swift, do ya?
So what can ya do? REGISTER TO VOTE. Duh. Get loud and be heard. Fist pump for freedom! You get the point. DJ Suave, DJ R Money and DJ Gyno will have to listen to your political beats if 100,000 plus dance fans show up at the polls, so take Action and spin the vote below!
