If you've ever dreamed of a day when Rocky would face off against Jake La Motta, your wish may be coming true. A new report is saying that Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro are in talks to star in "Grudge Match," a boxing comedy being set up at Warner Bros.
The Wrap has the news, saying that the movie is about two retired boxers who plan one last match against one another. Stallone is famous for writing and starring in the movie "Rocky," while De Niro also portrayed a boxer in Martin Scorsese's classic, "Raging Bull."
There's no official confirmation on the casting yet, and the movie isn't even officially greenlit, but this seems like it would be a match made in heaven if it did happen.
"Tommy Boy" and "Anger Management" helmer Peter Segal is set to direct the film, while "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin is working on the latest draft of the script. Those two seem to be a strong backbone for this movie, though we will admit that we weren't too enamored with the tone of Segal's latest, "Get Smart."
It's nice to know that Stallone and De Niro are not taking themselves too seriously, though. Stallone seems to be on a stint teaming up with old rivals, currently working alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in "The Tomb" and everyone from Bruce Willis to Chuck Norris in "The Expendables 2." De Niro is similarly taking things with a grain of salt, as evidenced by his hilarious performances in "Stardust" and "Machete."
