Shay Mitchell of "Pretty Little Liars" wants to help bring an end to human trafficking. #Truth. In the past she's tweeted about the Somaly Mam Foundation, putting on a fundraiser to help the very important org. Now she's back on Twitter to tell us more about Somaly Mam:
Thank you @glamourmag for talking with me this morning about the @SomalyMam foundation. Can't wait for everyone to read it! #BringAwareness
— Shay Mitchell (@shaymitch) April 18, 2012
Somaly Mam, the woman behind the organization, was sold into sexual slavery when she was a young child living in Cambodia. After being raped repeatedly and watching her best friend murdered, she managed to escape and is now doing what she can to create a world where no other child has to go through the horrors she went through. Shay talked about this heroic woman to Glamour for her interview with the mag.
And talking about Somaly to Glamour is only fitting, you know, since Somaly was Glamour's Woman of the Year in 2006. Somaly's doing what she can to help women and children the world over, and Shay's using her star status to make sure people know about her and #BringAwareness. Shay, we can't wait to read your Q&A in the mag!
