Shakira's hips don't lie, and neither does her voice. Right now she's on a quest to improve childhood development around the world. Earlier this week, the international superstar joined President Obama and Colombian President Santos at the Summit of the Americas in Colombia to speak about the importance of providing an education for children in her motherland. Last week, she unveiled "First Things First," a Colombian government program that's contributing millions of dollars to build educational programs for kids.

Shakira's crusade to provide universal education for kids is the core mission of her nonprofit the Barefoot Foundation, which works closely with her Columbia-based organization, La Fundación Pies Descalzos which shares the same goals.
According to the International Labour Organization, there are 5.7 child laborers working in Latin America and the Caribbean. So cray, right? Fortunately, a focus of the Barefoot Foundation is to help parents generate an income so they don't have to send their kids to work.
Shakira is also the founder of ALAS, a group of Latin American leaders who band together to make sure kids six years of age and younger get an education. Now that's something to sing and shake your hips about! Shakira, Shakira!
