Earth Day is this Sunday!  Know what that means?  It's time to get our eco-game on and take steps to preserving the environment as a team. And ah yeah, there's an app for that! There are a ton of apps for going green but here are 5 awesome, Act-approved apps.

+Green School Revolution: The Game

Let's face it -- events are hella more fun when they're gamified. If you think you have what it takes to be an awesome Eco Warrior at home and at school, download Green School Revolution (it's free!) and test your enviro-knowledge with quizzes as well as get tips on how to save energy and water. Oh and for all you FarmVille fans: You can harvest (digital) carrots.

+Taptu Guardian Environment

What if you had the most popular green news all in one app? The free Taptu Guardian Environment delivers precisely that and more (Beautiful photo galleries, anyone?). Score! You can even be a DJ Eco of sorts by curating your own mixed streams of eco-news, and sharing them with your friends on Facebook or Twitter. And in case you're wondering: There actually is a real deal DJ Eco.

+Green Genie

Green Genie (99 cents) gives ideas for more than 100 projects and easy tasks you can do to lead a greener life. It also has a glossary of green terms to help you step up your eco-game,  links to carbon footprint calculators, a list of green certified products, etc. There's even an option to submit your own environmental project ideas. Everyone can participate and be a green leader (and we're not talking 'bout the Hulk. Har har har)!

+Light Bulb Finder

The Light Bulb Finder helps people switch from incandescent light bulbs to more environmentally friendly and less expensive bulbs (cuz no one wants to be a slave to the dolla dolla bill y'all). With each light bulb recommendation the app makes it also calculates its eco-impact and the cost savings of each purchase. The app is gratis so why not download it, go green and save $$$?!

+Hootroot

If you have a road trip on your agenda, this is the app for you. Hootroot provides directions, while listing the potential environmental footprint of all your transportation options including walking, biking, driving, flying or public transit. It's like Google maps but with a super green vibe to it.
