Warning: Yeah, we know this is old news but we've been so cray cray busy at over here at Act HQ. We just felt weird not addressing it, ya know?
Fans of Lady Gaga normally eat up what the Mother Monster says, but recently she tweeted something about, well, eating, that has caused many fans to go sour.
Last week Gaga went on Twitter and wrote:
Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay
— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) April 10, 2012
The response was fast and furious from many fans and health experts. It wasn't that long ago that Lady Gaga said, "The dieting wars have got to stop. Everyone just knock it off. Because at the end of the day, it's affecting kids your age. And it's making girls sick." She got big-time kudos for speaking out against eating disorders, so some people are saying this latest comment is hypocritical; plus it's surprising to hear from someone who's always talking about self-acceptance. Other people have said that Lady Gaga was probably being flippant and meant it as a joke, and it shouldn't be taken so seriously.
Celebs like Gaga are pressured to have a certain idealized look, but the rest of us can feel that pressure too, and some stars have been speaking out against it. Ashley Judd recently got criticized for supposedly having a "puffy face" (what was this, a slow news day?). Well, she didn't take that sitting down, and wrote about the judgements put on people to look a particular way. "It affects each and every one of us, in multiple and nefarious ways: our self-image, how we show up in our relationships and at work, our sense of our worth, value, and potential as human beings," she said.
Then there's Demi Lovato who got upset over with the Disney Channel and tweeted in all KANYE CAPS:
Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.

So here's some food for thought: was Lady Gaga's comment a joke that's getting too much attention, or is it a discouraging remark? Let us know in the poll below!
