Who are the funniest cast members in the current season of "Saturday Night Live"? If you said Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg, you would be correct, which is exactly why we are so concerned over rumors that the trio will be bowing out of the show at the end of this season.
Us Weekly is reporting the three will be moving on to bigger and better things once this season is over. It's not the most shocking news considering their rising star power. Wiig ruled the box office and scored an Oscar nomination with her comedy "Bridesmaids," Sudeikis charmed us in "Horrible Bosses" and "Hall Pass" and goofball Samberg is starting to get more film parts (including the upcoming Sundance favorite "Celeste and Jesse Forever," which was written by and stars Rashida Jones) in addition to his comedy work with The Lonely Island guys.
"Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Jason Sudeikis are all leaving after the end of the season," an insider told Us. "Kristen was talking about leaving a while ago," a pal of Wiig's continued. "With her movie success, it's no surprise."
Of course a spokeswoman for Wiig and Sudeikis has already attempted to clear up the rumor, saying, "There is no truth to this rumor on both Jason and Kristen's behalf." So who knows!
Some fans are surprised that Wiig has stuck around as long as she has – she's been a fan-favorite of "SNL" from day one. Sudeikis experienced his first flop with last year's "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy," but his two other films – "Hall Pass" and "Horrible Bosses" – were both certified hits. Samberg's fame is more cult-like with his viral-friendly skits and '07 film "Hot Rod."
Will you still watch 'SNL' if Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis fly the coop? Let us know in the comments below!
