Puppies and kittens -- oh my! It's time for animal lovers to unite, because April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month. There are certainly lots of animal lovers in the celeb world, and quite a few big name stars have helped out our canine and feline companions by adopting rescue dogs and cats. Orlando Bloom, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, George Clooney, Drew Barrymore and Charlize Theron are just a few examples.
But obviously that's not something you have to be a celeb to do -- many people can adopt pets. And in honor of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is encouraging peeps to go orange on Facebook (because orange is the color for this) and to take part in the "I Saved My Pet!" photo contest. Got a super cute, super loveable rescue pet? Send a pic in!
Want to do more than paint Facebook orange and show photos? There's a long list of things you can do, like adopting pets, having them spayed or neutered, supporting no-kill shelters, and reporting animal abuse. And even though dogs and cats get the most attention as pets, that doesn't mean there can't be rescue rabbits, gerbils and other animals as well. So lend a hand (or a paw)!
