Even if you stayed up late watching the BET Awards, you've totally got to watch BET's "No Guns Allowed – Disarming Violence in Our Community" as well! The star-studded panel, which was the kickoff of the No Guns Allowed campaign, included Snoop Lion, T.I. and Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
Snoop, who is also working with MTV to reduce gun violence, Tweeted:
tune in 2 join tha #NoGunsAllowed conversation ! Talkin gun violence wit @Tip @maxinewaters @theleague99 n more! http://t.co/HsnX4m0iDU

"The reason why I made the song 'No Guns Allowed' is because I'm just fed up with all of this gun violence," Snoop said at the beginning of the panel. "I've always had a problem with it."
He acknowledges that this wasn't always clear, but said that the kind of violence we've seen lately, like elementary school students being shot, drove him to action. Because music is his strongest point, he wants to use music to spread a message about the importance of reducing gun violence. Preach!
T.I. lost his best friend to gun violence, and he realizes that he came dangerously close to the same fate. "I was so caught up in mourning his loss that I hadn't really realized it, man, I was like two feet from him. I could have died, too," he said on the panel. "Gun violence has been here before I got here, and we're trying to do what we can to see to it that it will be lessened, if not banished, by the time I leave."
