Our friends over at Seventeen are once again holding the "Pretty Amazing" contest, which means the magazine is looking for girls just like you to put on the cover.
In addition to landing on the cover of the magazine, the winner will also take home a $10,000 scholarship! Which means you'll be able to continue your amazing work with a little more financial freedom than before.
How does a girl nab the "Pretty Amazing" title? Find out what pushed previous winners, Lindsay Brown and Zoe Damacela, to the top of Seventeen's list. Brown was chosen because she helped send 48 girls to school in Nepal by baking tie-dye cupcakes. Damacela went from living in a homeless shelter to having her own fashion line. NBD.
For this year's contest, Editor-in-Chief Ann Shoket will have a little backup when it comes to judging the tens of thousands of entries expected to pour in for the contest. Carly Rae Jepsen is joining in on the fun to help choose the future Seventeen cover model.
Wondering what Shoket and Jepsen are looking for in the entries? Jepsen thinks someone is amazing "when they find out what their passion is and how they can contribute." Shoket is looking for someone who "has an amazing story to tell." For her, it's not about "a laundry list of achievements." She's impressed by "girls who aren't afraid to pave their own path." If you're looking for more tips, check out what past winners Lindsay and Zoe had to say about standing out in the contest. Our fave tip? From Zoe: "It's OK to show your dorky, awkward, silly, or weird side. This contest is for real girls, not mannequins!"
Here that, world-changers? Seventeen is calling, and we think you should maybe definitely answer. Put your "Pretty Amazing" face forward and let everyone know that giving back is just as important as ever.
To apply, submit two recent photographs, tell Seventeen your amazing story (in 1,000 words or less) and press "submit." You have until April 30 to send in your information, but don't wait too long. Who knows -- maybe we'll see you on the cover of Seventeen soon!
