Andy Serkis' Gollum in "The Lord of the Rings" and now "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" has often been praised as the gold standard that all CGI characters should be measured against, but while he might best the greatest, the schizophrenic creature certainly wasn't the first.
One of the very first fully-CGI characters was none other than the much maligned Jar Jar Binks. In an historic event (and thanks to MTV News' Josh Horowitz), Gollum and Jar Jar were able to have a short conversation during a recent press junket for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."
Will we ever see such a monumental day for CGI characters again? Probably not. This is probably as good as it's ever going to get.
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" opens on December 14.
