Lady Gaga's not one to shy away from controversy. The Born This Way Foundation's mission to "build a kinder, braver world" might sound about as uncontroversial as you can get, but the org is still under fire from at least one group.
Instead of sounding angry about this, the Mother Monster instead praised open debate. She Tweeted:
love the debate because of THE BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION+ their amazing work with office depot. what do you think? huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/20/lad…

If you check out her link to HuffPo, you'll see what the fuss is all about. The Born This Way Foundation has teamed up with Office Depot for the new school year (don't panic everyone on summer break -- you still have more vacay!) and they're partnering up to create new school supplies. According to the Huffington Post, reports say these school supplies will include gift cards to empower you and bracelets that give solid advice like "Be Yourself."
That still doesn't sound so controversial. But the Florida Family Association (a.k.a. FFA) says that the message Lady Gaga is sending is "irresponsible" and that Gaga and the BTW Foundation "influence many teens to embrace homosexuality for their lifetime who may have otherwise worked through their crisis with straight results."
The FFA wants Office Depot to break away from Gaga, but it sounds like Office Depot isn't budging. Office Depot's Chief Marketing Officer Bob Moore said the Born This Way Foundation is "an inspirational organization that has the power to make a difference in the lives of today's youth."
One thing's for sure: Lady Gaga's going to continue to be herself and stand up for all the people who feel cast away from society.
