"The Dark Knight Rises" took in about $162 million in North America over the weekend and stars Christian Bale and Tom Hardy are doing a lot more than just duking it out on the silver screen. They're both involved with important causes off screen. So we want to know in this week's Act-Off who gets your vote for doing good? Batman or Bane?!
+Christian Bale
Batman lives to protect Gotham City, while Christian Bale is into protecting something waaaay different: Mountain Gorillas. Yeah, you heard me. Bale along with his wife Sibi, serves on the board of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund -- an organization dedicated to protecting the last of the Mountain Gorillas from habitat loss and poaching. Does the organization project an image of a gorilla in the sky every time they need Christian's help??
+Tom Hardy
Ridiculously hot Brit Tom Hardy plays bad guy Bane, in the new Batman movie, but he too works for a good cause in real life. He and his fiancé Charlotte Riley support Bowel Cancer UK in raising awareness of the disease. According to the Bowel Cancer UK website, people are not comfortable discussing the symptoms of the disease like constipation or they're not aware of the symptoms. Also, "survival rates in the UK are amongst the lowest in Europe, with 15% more patients being diagnosed at a later stage of the disease compared with most other European countries." At the London premiere of the "The Dark Knight Rises," Hardy said, "I'd like to help the charity to increase awareness and to help stop people dying needlessly from the disease. I hope you'll join me."
