A few months ago almost no one had heard of Joseph Kony, and then #KONY2012 came out and changed all that. The viral vid, along with being watched over 108 million times (to date), has been pretty controversial and gotten a lot of strong emotions out of people -- from a passionate desire to help to concern about how the org Invisible Children works. But there's no doubt it's gotten people talking and wanting to learn more. Always adorable Kristen Bell caught a New York Times article about one of Kony's senior commanders being captured and she shared the link on Twitter:

Here's a quick little sum-up of what the Times reports: Caesar Acellam, the senior commander, was tracked down by the Ugandan military around the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic. The Ugandan officials involved reported that Acellam was a major strategist for Kony. A lot of people are wanting Kony himself captured, but as Kristen says, this sounds like another step closer.

An anonymous source the New York Times talked to said that Acellam's capture would be a "big blow" to Kony. Meanwhile, it's getting harder and harder for Kony to avoid capture, and it sounds like he's also having trouble keeping himself and his men fed.

Whatever your opinion of Invisible Children, they have gotten the world to pay attention and become better educated about what's going on globally. Kony and his men aren't so "invisible" anymore -- people are watching.
