Think teens can't get out there and make waves for change? Think again. "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder knows teens can make a difference. He got super excited to see an article in The Atlantic about people taking the government to court to get more done about climate change. Ian shared the link on his Twitter account:
WOW.Thanks for this article Allan Savory! If you are in your teens or early twenties PLEASE check this out.Killer. m.theatlantic.com/national/archi…

A lot of us have noticed the weather's been really weird lately, but we don't know what to do about it. 17-year-old Alec Loorz and four other young plaintiffs are saying they want to reduce national emissions of carbon dioxide. And they have specific numbers and a timeline: starting next year, they want the emissions going down six percent (or more!) each year. To do this, they're suing the federal government.
Alec first got interested in helping the climate when he was twelve, after he saw Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth." Having Alec and his fellow teens sue the federal government is getting major attention and has legal experts weighing in on how they expect this to go. We won't know for sure until it happens. But we do know that people can make a difference, no matter what their age. Thanks for tweeting this awesome story, Ian!
